Wherever the road may lead, we hope you take NSU with you. By purchasing your NSU specialty plate, you’re not only showing your Shark pride, you’re also supporting future NSU students.
How to get your gift card.
Once you have your new registration and NSU plate, complete the following online form and upload a copy of your new registration for your $25 gift card.
Visit your county tax collector's office.
Request the NSU specialty plate.
Receive a $25 gift card.
In order to receive a $25 gift card, you must be registering for a new NSU Shark specialty license plate (subject to verification). This gift card is nonrefundable and is only valid for the initial upgrade to the NSU Shark specialty license plate (maximum value of $25, must be submitted within one year of initial upgrade). This gift card is intended to cover a portion of the initial specialty license plate charge. The NSU Alumni Association is NOT responsible for paying annual renewal fees or any future fees incurred. This offer is not valid on existing NSU Shark specialty plates (including logo updates). This gift card may not be combined with any other offer. The gift card is not redeemable for cash.
What do I need to have in order to get an NSU Shark Plate?
The owner of the vehicle will need to have a valid driver’s license, up to date registration, and a completed “Revenue Collection Division Affidavit.”
Do I have to be an NSU student or alum to get an NSU Shark Plate?
No, anyone who lives in Florida is able to get an NSU Shark Plate.
Can I have an NSU Shark Plate if I do not live in Florida?
No, NSU Shark Plates are only available for vehicles with Florida registration.
When is the best time to get my NSU Shark Plate?
The best time to register for a shark plate is right after you receive your new registration.
How much will I have to pay when I renew my registration next year?
The next time you renew your registration, a $25 specialty plate charge will apply.
Is that $25 fee tax-deductible?
No, it is not. However, the $25 transfers into a scholarship fund for NSU students.
If I have the old NSU plate, will NSU replace it with the new Shark Plate for free?
No, the free replacement program does not apply to someone with the old NSU plate. Contact your local tax collector’s office and let them know you would like to update your plate to the new NSU Shark Plate. Charges may apply.
I am an NSU Alumni, but I live out of state. Is there anything else I can get to show my Shark Pride on my car?
Yes! We want all NSU Alums to be able to show their Shark Pride. Update your information at nova.edu/alumniupdate and use promo code: “NSUPlate” to receive an NSU License Plate Frame as our gift to you.
